Governor Profiles

Andrew Alder
Chair of Governors and Finance Committee

I have been asked to join the governing body, and having moved into Hellesdon in 2014 I am pleased to be able to offer something of value back to the local community. Having previously served as governor, chair of finance and then chair of governors at a large rural primary school and seen them through a major period of change becoming a church sponsored academy, I feel I may have insights which may be of benefit in the future through these ever changing times in the education world. I am married with 2 grown up children, my daughter now herself a special education teacher in Norfolk, and my wife is the vicar in Hellesdon. My own background is in finance having worked for 25 years in various senior roles within the Lloyds banking group until 2002, when my wife was ordained and so I became a ‘house husband’ The washing machine still baffles me!

Bethan Clennell

I have taught at Kinsale Infant School since 2009. During this time I have taught across all 3 year groups and have many roles and responsibilities across the school. I am the Early Years Foundation Stage lead and a member of the Senior Leadership Team. I am passionate about early learning and ensuring that children have the very best start in their learning journey through school and into the wider world. I previously worked in a variety of schools in London and spent a few years teaching English as a foreign language in Japan. As staff governor I am a member of the Finance, Premises and Personnel committee and attend all full governors meetings. I value the opportunity alongside the rest of the governing body to support the strategic leadership of the school.

Emma Godwin

I have taught at Kinsale Infant School since 2009 and feel privileged to be a part of the journey that the school has been on throughout that time. I have developed many positive relationships with the families that attend the school and, having grown up locally, I have good knowledge of the area and the families that we serve. During my time at Kinsale Infant School, I have taught across all three year groups and have had numerous roles alongside my teaching position, such as SENCo, Healthy Schools Coordinator, subject lead in art and DT, and P.E. and Sports Coordinator. I am passionate about the children receiving the best possible outcomes for them and their families and work hard to make this happen. As a member of the school Governing Body, I embrace the opportunity to be able to support to further drive the development and improvement of our school.

Marc Lillystone

I joined the Governors in October 2020. I have one daughter in Reception and 2 older children who have recently moved on to the junior school, so I’ve been a parent at Kinsale Infant School for the last 5 years. I’m a specialist nurse in the NHS and also an assistant pastor of Gateway Vineyard church in Norwich. Both these roles offer experience and skills that I hope will support the school leadership team to keep building a stronger and continually improving school community.

James Collins

Growing up in Hellesdon, I attended Kinsale School, followed by Hellesdon High School and Sixth Form. So I feel I have a specific interest and genuine passion for the local area and schools. I am currently the Trading Director of a local, medium sized retail business. I travel extensively within the UK, throughout Europe and also the Far East with my team, sourcing products for our store group. As Trading Director my responsibilities include managing budgets, leading teams across all areas of trade, e commerce and social media and also working alongside senior employees across all key sectors of the business to drive the strategic direction. As a father of a pupil who attends Kinsale Infant School, I know first hand how much the children enjoy, develop and excel within a wonderfully nurturing environment. I am really excited to be joining the governing body, and I’m hoping that my commercial experience can support the school in continuing to offer pupils and staff an enjoyable learning environment in which they can thrive.

Laura Holloway

I am delighted to sit on the Governing board here at Kinsale Infant School. I have two children that attend the school and I have decided to play an active role in the school community by joining the board as well as being Chair of ‘Friends of Kinsale Infant School’. I have taken a break from my career in Marketing to ensure I have the time to commit to these early years in the children’s school journey. I have experience in property development, and I am currently working as a Location Manager within an over 55s housing scheme. The knowledge I have gained in this area I believe is valuable and transferable to the Premises and Finance committee of the governing board that I sit on. As part of my Governor role I am also responsible for supporting with Cyber Security and Sports Premium. This is a wonderful opportunity, and I am so grateful to be part of such a fantastic school and watch it flourish.

Danica Robinson

I joined the school governors in September 2022 the same time as my daughter joined one of the Reception classes in the school. I thought it would be the ideal opportunity to be involved with supporting her education and contributing to her school. My other daughter will be joining in 2024 as well so I will have an involvement in 2 year groups at once enabling me to have an even broader understanding of the school. I live in Hellesdon but didn't grow up here so this gives me the chance to be involved in the local community. My current employment is within social care and children's safeguarding, so I feel I can provide knowledge in that area. Previously I have worked in events and facilities management with heavy involvement with finance, budgets and targets. I am looking forward to being on the committee and taking on this new challenge.

David Rye

I joined the governing board at Kinsale Infant School in January 2023 and chair the Curriculum Committee. I have worked in further education for 18 years, specialising in additional needs and work-based learning. I currently manage specialist provision at a local FE college and also support development of teaching, learning and assessment across the organisation. I am particularly interested in curriculum design and the use of differentiation to support individual needs. I am passionate about the role education can play in the development of children and young people’s knowledge, skills and confidence to support future success. I am very pleased to work with the rest of the governing body to support the leadership of the school.

Stephanie Grand

I am the Clerk to the Governors for Kinsale Infant School. This role involves attending meetings, taking minutes, preparing agendas with the Chair and Headteacher, sometimes giving advice about governance and maintaining accurate records for the Full Governing Board. I have worked in education since 2009 and it is always a pleasure to visit Kinsale and work with the school’s Governors.
