This year at Kinsale we have a very enthusiastic group of eco councillors!

This is a new venture for our school in 2022 and we are all very excited to see which projects the children come up with to make our school more eco friendly.

The children indicate if they wish to be part of the eco council, they then complete an application form if they are in Year 2 and if they are in Year 1 they state to their class why they think they would like to be part of our committee.

The children are then chosen by both staff and teachers.  Year 2 have four eco councillors and Year 1 have two. The Reception children are elected to join the council in the Summer term if they would like to, Year 1 will also have two more children join the council during this term.  Mrs Belson meets with the councillors every fortnight.

The team have been looking at ways to improve our school environment and reduce our carbon footprint. This will hopefully allow them to achieve an Eco award for our school. The Eco Council are currently working with the rest of the school to bring in companies who support the climate and renewable energy.
